Fields of blooming Sunflowers are forever etched in my mind from my travels to Provence, France. Often it is impossible for me to walk by a bouquet if I see them at markets. It is beloved by so many and represent a long life and lasting happiness. They are actually tiny flowers all blooming together. Those tall stalks and their faces turning towards the light just makes you want to do the same.
This wonderful bouquet I worked from brought joy to my home. My recent art is becoming less restricted and I love exploring this new style in freeing my strokes and creating the opening of emotion rather than detail. The soft background pulls your eye to the inner beauty of this wonderful flower that not only means so much but provides us with seeds and oils. It has been studied and painted throughout time. I am thrilled I captured this.
