This bloom was photographed from an arrangement I had made to brighten my room. Bringing the outdoors into the home is a must for me. I singled this Dahlia from the larger arrangement and was aiming to bring great movement to the painting. The colors evolved with each stroke creating a lively piece.
Placed in an outstanding Italian pewter frame with a silk grey border makes this small piece stand out in a room. The petals flow and move unfolding like they are dancing in the garden and the values of the complimentary colors of yellow and purple bring a sense of balance. Dahlias are one of the birth flowers for August.
